Achieving Set Goals in 2018

It looks like just yesterday when 2017 was ushered in and now it’s the beginning of 2018. Every year as we say goodbye to the old year and prepare for the New Year, best believe that most of our goals and aspirations have not been met, but does that stop us from making new resolutions? Of course, not, we keep hoping that the New Year will be different from the last. So let’s talk about how to achieve the goals you have set for the new year.

Goal setting is something that enables individuals to achieve their aims and aspirations. We all have aspirations though most of us do not know how to draw a roadmap to achieving these goals. To attain our goals, we need to be focused and determined. Don’t just daydream and hope the universe will align with your wishes. You must set out with a plan and know that you would have to put in a lot of work and grind before your efforts start bearing fruits. To be honest not many of last year’s goals were met. Procrastination is the thief of time and you keep promising yourself you’ll do better.

Set attainable goals: There are lots of desires and goals but know that they cannot be achieved all at the same time. Some even require that you must have achieved something before they can happen. For instance, as a student who wants a car, this can only happen when you have got a significant source of income. Knowing this, set goals in stages and do not overburden yourself. This is because if you set too many goals you will not be able to achieve all and might be forced to abandon some leading to that feeling of failure. So set smart, attainable and important goals.

Stay True: Staying true to yourself and to your goals is very important. Nothing gets done properly if you are trying to imitate others. Be you. Fail, if you have to know that you are rising up again, stronger and more determined. Put in the hours of hard work to keep your dreams moving and do keep motivating yourself to get on top of that goal. Know yourself enough to recognize your strengths and weaknesses.

Become one of your goals: Imbibe your goals. Make them an integral part of your life. Let everything you do be deliberate and geared towards the achievement of your goals. Do not cut yourself any slack. Instead, keep pushing and reminding yourself how important it is that you achieve your aims. Doing this will help you prioritize and stay focused on your dreams and goals.

Never let your circumstances control you: Nothing goes according to plan. Things happen and if not careful it can derail all made plans. Be mentally and physically ready for any eventuality. You know that saying when life gives you a lemon, make lemonade? That! But in this instance demand, an apple and have a fruit drink too. Whatever the drawback is, always know at the back of your mind the decision that you must not lose focus on the goal.

Be ready to pay the price for success: Nothing goes for nothing. No pain no gain like the saying goes. There is a price to be paid for our wants, goals and desires. There is no such thing as a free lunch, as someone somewhere is paying for it. In the course of achieving your goals do not hesitate at the price you have to pay. Be ready to make sacrifices. It is advisable to write down those things you would not give up on, no matter what. Such things as your principles and integrity must not be compromised.

Ask for feedback: Advice, praises and constructive criticisms are a great help to grow and also recognize where corrections are needed. Feedback will help you take note of your blind spots and try and fix them. It is good to ask for feedback from your mentor, friend or family.

Success doesn’t come by chance, you make it happen. It occurs when preparation meets opportunity. Be the better version of yourself this new year. Fall, learn, carry on, repeat and succeed. Luck is nothing but when preparations meet opportunity. Seize the day and take control and responsibility. Above all do not despair, just move forward.

Happy New Year, y’all!

This is such a realistic post. People often set goals after the new year and then get discouraged. We need to push through regardless. Also I love the part about asking for feedback. Others can often see things that we cannot.

Great, supportive article on having a better chance to actually fulfill your goals. I loved the tip to become one of your goals! haha true. I also agree we need to be able to pay the price for the success. There’s usually more positive aspects of achieving your goals but sometimes we have to accept the small, maybe negative price as well. Let’s stay focused and positive though. May the universe help us!:)

Great tips for the new year! It’s tough to hear that we have to sacrifice to succeed, but it’s so true. Sacrifice time, energy, plans, bad habits… but, it will all be worth it. Thanks for the reminder.

At first wish you a very happy new year. Setting a guideline and routine for achieving goals is really something important in the beginning of any year.. Otherwise, many goals will remain unattended and success in life will seem unachievable.. Thanks for sharing such useful guidelines..😊
